Specific Market Info:

The number of outbound trips made by Singaporeans increased to 19 million in 2013. Air departures continued to record the strongest growth in departures and remained the fastest and most convenient mode of transport to travel to destinations outside of Singapore. The strong growth of low cost carriers in Singapore during 2012 & 2013 also boosted demand for air transportation among outbound Singaporean travelers

In addition to a new Terminal 4 which will be completed in 2017, Singapore announced that it will invest in building Terminal 5, which will be completed by mid-2020s. The new mega terminal will have the capacity to handle 50 million passengers per year, larger than Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 combined, making it the air hub of South-East Asia.

As Singaporeans become increasingly tech-savvy in this highly wired nation, many of them have been able to conduct research online and make their own travel arrangements. The availability of online travel deals and promotions further encouraged Singapore to travel abroad.

Due to the limited size of Singapore’s territory, it is common for Singaporeans to take several holidays abroad every year.
As economies of several Asian countries continue to develop strongly, Singaporeans are expected to travel abroad more for both business and leisure.
